Crazy costs for insurance in Los Angeles, CA

Thanks for reading. I got my SS last weekend and thought I could get insurance the same day, boy was I wrong. These costs are insane! The highest I got quoted was $11,000 and $8,000 a year, even the insurance agent was shocked. I must have spent the better part of this whole week calling every insurance company I could find. about 90% of these companies don't even have the car in their system and won't insure it. AllState and progressive were around $1,600, then I found Foremost for around $1,225 with no uninsured motorist coverage and no medical. Finally, I settled with Nationwide which was about $1,100 for the year but covered medical, I also joined the Farm Bureau as it saved a couple hundred a year . This is way more than I expected to spend on insurance and I should have done my research before purchasing the vehicle. But anyway, I wanted to share this information to save some of you the hassle of searching.
